Appo, I see like 14,212 suggestions on what to apply to the lil one’s cutie bum. I don’t know if coconut oil and camphor (preferable the desi version) is available there, but if yes, just take 1/2 camphor, soak it in some coconut oil, blend it well and apply. Takes care of any rashes. Works good for adults too :=)

Well I don’t believe in the not eating meat on one day out of deference to a God concept either. Hypocritical, it seems to me. Eat it or don’t.

It is true that it is difficult to argue/have a debate over religion because people are so darn touchy about it. Leave alone a debate between someone religious and an atheist – even a debate between two people of the same religion who follow different religious practices can get overheated fast. I believe that is because 1) most people don’t know how to disagree and still be polite and friendly 2)most people don’t know how to accept that there are different strokes for different folks.

Also, I think, over the years, to maintain their control over society, Brahmins – the “religion-keepers” of society – MADE discussions on religion a taboo because, maybe, they didn’t have proper explanations themselves. So everything became “ye aise hi hota hai”, “ye paap hai”, “The Gods will get upset” and suchlike.

i dont mean ‘mock’. I agree with your previous ‘general courtesy’ comment. What I meant was, I would discuss cricket and/or raise objections to your opinions. For example, I think Sourav Ganguly is one of the worst things that happened to Indian cricket. We could argue about it. Sure. The thing is, we are allowed to and no one will see anything wrong. But at the same time if you believe in something (“I dont eat meat on Thu” crap), I cant ask you why you are a dumb fuck? lame. so, i decided i will. if you are so religious and dont want to talk to me after that, we probably wouldnt get along over the long run after all.

hmm, whatever works for them is no more a defense. you cant see people turning to wes craven classics for what? solace? that’s not really true. I read Wodehouse if I feel sad. Why is it better believing one made up concept over another? coz a group of damn schemers have been repeating it for ages. how can (you) people find scientology and/or mormonism stupid but not see that the rest of the stuff is the same thing but many hundred years later?

I think the “do not mock” rule should apply to anything and everything that people take seriously. What I mean is – I wouldn’t mock religion in front of someone who is very religious just like I wouldn’t mock, say, cricket, in front of someone who is a die-hard fan. General courtesy. No?
