I had a similar accident last week. Bangalore traffic is now so terrible that I’m seriously considering buying a second hand auto-rickshaw to drive. My one month old car’s bumper was dragged off by an auto who was squeezing in where he shouldn’t be. If he had at least stopped when he bumped against my car, the damage would have been less. But he had to literally drag the bumper off and then he just sped off (or rather as much as you can speed in so much traffic). It took me a few minutes to be able to get down from my car and inspect the damage. By that time he was a few cars ahead. In any case what would I have done even if I could catch him? So I did the only sensible thing and called my husband and bawled. Luckily the car was still in driving condition so I made it to the garage. What pissed me off so much was the attitude. He could have stopped when he first hit against my car and apologized. Instead he further damaged it and then just drove away. Oh well. Sorry for taking so much of your space for my sob story.
I read the letter you pointed to. Maybe if I find words later will comment on it.
As for your home tour, I’m again at a loss of words, but in a good way. Even though you’ve been saying you don’t like the house, you’ve made it so beautiful. It does look like a home to me.
